Winemaker Takeover– Jeff Beckmen from Beckmen Vineyards

Join Restaurant Serenade on Thursday October 12th from 5:30–8:30 for a Winemaker Takeover with Jeff Beckmen from Beckmen Vineyards.  Come chat with a “Rhone Ranger” and learn what goes into producing Rhone style wines in America. Flights and glasses of Beckmen Vineyards wines will be available at a discounted price for the event, with no special tickets or reservations required.

From the winemaker: “As our 15th release of the PMV Syrah, the 2014 vintage is filled with classic Purisima Mountain Syrah flavors and aromas. Remarkably similar to our 2004 vintage, this explosive wine has an amazingly rich, deep color. Soaring from the glass are aromas of chocolate, smoke, blackberries, and game. The mouth is full with rich flavors of dark berries, vanilla, pepper, and more chocolate, with fine, ripe tannins that carry the fruit through an incredibly long finish. A fantastic vintage of PMV Syrah, this wine will drink well from 2016 – 2031.”

Want to know more about what makes these wines so special? The Santa Ynez Valley shares many similarities with the Rhone region of France. The grapes that made the Rhone region famous grow equally well in the limestone of California, but produce wines with their own unique characteristics. The Beckmen family has cultivated their vineyards to draw the best possible characteristics out of every grape varietal they grow in order to produce wines and blends with exceptional flavor. Their vineyard isn’t simply organic, either. Their vineyard has been certified biodynamic since 2009, meaning they proactively work with the land and the vines to ensure the best possible growing conditions without the use of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or nitrogen based fertilizer.

Come learn more about the fascinating process involved in getting the final wine to you, the wine aficionado, and enjoy an evening at Restaurant Serenade.
